Despite their assurances they’d keep me in the loop regarding progress isolating interference at the substation, the most recent update I heard from PG&E came via the ARRL, but at least it’s something:

Previously the investigation connected the interference to the substation. Subsequent inspection has been conducted which pinpointed the substation equipment involved. A detailed inspection of the identified equipment is underway to determine a course of correction and next steps.

So now they know they ARE creating interference, and they know precisely WHAT is causing the interference.  All they have to do now is fix it.

It’s worth noting again that I gave them a fairly precise location over a year ago, and then the spent a year gaslighting me about it, misdirecting my trouble ticket, and generally refusing to do anything until I sent a letter to the CEO and woke them up about it.

It should not be this difficult to get a utility to meet its legal and safety obligations.

The problem remains unfixed, of course, but at least it’s some nominal progress.
